Biotin-PEG2-azide is a click chemistry biotinylation tool. This reagent allows the labeling of alkynylated molecules (such as DNA, oligonucleotides, and proteins) with biotin via copper-catalyzed or copper-free click reaction. Biotin-labeled biomolecules can be bound to avidin or streptavidin for further purification and detection.
The structure of Biotin-PEG2-azide features a hydrophilic linker (PEG2) that separates biotin residue from the target molecule for efficient biotin binding with avidin or streptavidin. This linker also enhances the aqueous solubility of the compound and facilitates bioconjugation.
